To All,

On behalf of the officers of the Maple Shade Babe Ruth, I would like to take a moment to wish success to all of our 2004 Babe Ruth players during the upcoming season. As we begin this season, there is something new in Maple Shade baseball for 2004.

Over the past few seasons we have seen too many of our players having to play outside of our town, if they wished to continue playing ball after our Babe Ruth season. We applaud those players that wish to continue playing competitive baseball well into the summer. While we have offered Babe Ruth tournament play, it only promises at least two games. Well we have heard the words of the players and I am extremely excited to announce that Maple Shade will now offer a competitive program for those players. We have registered to have a 13-14 year old team and a 15-16 year old team in the Del-Val Baseball league.

I truly believe that this program promises to be an exceptional opportunity for the Maple Shade players that want more baseball in a competitive setting. The Del-Val season begins around the 1st of June and ends around the end of July with each team playing about 24 games. The Del-Val league consists of teams from Northern Burlington, Marlton, Pennsauken, Glendora, Haddon Heights and more.

We will be holding tryouts in the next few weeks for each team. We will post Tryout notices at the field and on our website, and all of our league managers will be directed to announce dates and times to their players. We invite all players with any interest in playing competitive ball this summer to come out for the teams.

As we begin this new chapter in Maple Shade Baseball, the Managers for these teams as selected by the membership will be Larry Lotierzo for the 15-16 year olds and Steve Matthews for the 13-14 year olds. Please feel free to speak to us with any questions that you may have regarding this program.

One final and possibly most important part is registration fees. Once players are selected for the teams, they will be required to pay a fee of $195. This fee will cover the cost of league fees, umpires, baseballs and uniforms.

Thanks,
Steve Matthews
President - Maple Shade Babe Ruth
